MUWS[e]

Welcome! A group of Marquette University students met today, February 10th, 2009, to create a new literary society, the Marquette University Writing Society (MUWS[e]).  Someone tried to crack a champagne bottle over a pen and another member sneezed and then, in a small room without light (Marquette University building Lalumiere), SOCIETY war geboren! In the upcoming future, not the present future, the group will meet once a week in a workshop setting to collaboratively critique peer creative writing.  Why?  Because all of the cafes in Paris are full, the cigarette tax in New York is too high and no one knows how to drive a diesel ambulance in the Alps.  Welcome to our elite society.  Has any one seen Pynchon? Harper, do you know? Oh, ok, he'll be late tonight, I didn't know he still had to go to those meetings.

The MUWS[e] blog is a public access site and all viewers are encouraged to read posts and provide feedback to the members' contributions.  The Society will also incorporate news, local events, book reviews, reading lists and other happenings into the blog when the happenings start happening.  These announcements and listings won't be flashbacks, deceptive plot ploys or sentences without subjects, verbs, or good writing, like those found in our writing, so don't read between the lines, it's a blog, not your girlfriend in a jewelry store two weeks before Valentines Day.

Most of us in the society aspire to be well read day-park-bench-sitters and publish a napkin thought or two, so all support is written down carefully and then probably appreciated after analysis.  Please be respectful of a writer's work, respect in this environment is a currency more important than seashells and beads and a necessity to keep the writers writing so the readers can read.  Clear those mortar holes, move quickly, and I'll see you on the beach, where we blog when it's warm and sunny and the Lake Michigan offspring have only two eyes.
